Back on the Road: Ready to Roam Again

Well, it has been a long and hot summer. I have been super busy for one, getting BHV TOO rolling in a positive direction. I have a loan and some pretty expensive rent on that bad boy, so just breaking even is the goal for now. We seem to be headed in a positive direction, but it is a constant fight. While all of that has been happening, the south store has needed a little attention. We have been busy, working some late nights, to detail clean (from top to bottom) and update the south store. It has been in place for a lot longer, so it was very important to me that we get both stores on the same level with cleaning protocols, design, and general picket and suite maintenance. We introduced our new addition of luxury villas along with a new little dog VIP suite. I will include some pics of those for anyone who has not seen those.

I am proud to say that this summer, we had no kennel cough reported at either store. That is sort of unheard of, but I will take it. That brings us heading into the fall. This is my favorite time of year, and also when I take a little time to myself before the holidays.. SOON we are headed out again on our 2nd RV trip.

If you followed along last year, we hit about 17 spots through the gulf coast, up the east coast to Maine, and back down. The goal was to speak to new people daily, get out of my comfort zone, and see how different we all really are within such a divisive political climate. Well. We are in a new year, and I think things have intensified… ALOT. Mid terms coming. People are really heating up to the left and right. So on this trip, we are heading back out to about 20 spots along the gulf coast, east coast (what can I say there are a bunch of neat spots on the east coast) up to Traverse City, Michigan and back down. Follow along on our RV stops here.

On this trip I start with. my brother from another father Andrew. Andrew is 7 years younger than me, we have a lot of differences, but have been using these trips to navigate a closer relationship as adults. After the first week, my husband Paul will join us and the three of us will hit a couple of spots before Paul and I head back down to Austin. Clearly I would love to take all of my 8 dogs, 4 cats, tortoises, bunnies, bearded dragon… but I can’t. The RV is 25ft long, so it will be tight!

We are naming this RV trip….. “Lanna Banana’s Legendary Life Tour.” Lanna B is going on 16 now, she is a seasoned traveler, and I want to make her life as full as possible while she is with us. Mooshu is coming too. A fan favorite and a bit of a bad boy to leave at BHV, but a good boy on the road, so he will be working security. Last year we got a kitten named Newt (of Aliens fame) and she will be returning with her best friend Maybe. We leave on September 26th with our first over night in Lafayette, Louisiana. I hope you all join us for this adventure! It is going to be epic!

I have worked at BHV for over 20 years as the manager, and then during Covid, took the steps to buy it. I have 8 dogs and I love my dogs on a level that I share with our clients. I try to include them in everything I do. ❤️
