💦 Stop #9.. Grand Island, NY (Niagara Falls)
If you are reading this, we are on our way to our next location. We just left Niagara Falls and let me tell you, it leaves you breathless. We stayed at a pretty neat RV park. I think it might have been my favorite. Right away I got my laundry done. The stroller I brought for the littles is very handy in the laundry sector too. I toss them into the stroller, and stack the bags of laundry next to them. The weather is finally tolerable and I spent some time playing ball with Lottie and walking Mooshu to their little lake. They have a zip line, golf carts, and plenty of things to do. I got us a deluxe site with a fire pit, concrete pad, chairs, and a picnic table. This RV spot was called HTR Niagara. It did have a dog park, but we did not need it. I had an end spot and no one around us. This was great because in the middle of the night Lanna had a little tummy blowout outside I couldn’t pick up until the morning.
Let me back track a bit. When planning this trip I zoomed in and tried to find interesting places that we could get to in 6 or less hours from each stop. Well as I was super zoomed in, I saw that Niagara was about 3 hours from Port Huron, Michigan. Well, come to find out, the reason for such a short drive is we had to drive through Canada. That opened up a whole other can of worms. Mainly we are traveling with 3 dogs and 2 cats. So, I am putting this here in case you ever have to travel with your pets. 1) I learned if you are traveling to Mexico with your dog or cat, you will need to have them all seen by a vet, pay $113 dollars per pet, and then you will be issued a health certificate. This is all because of the screw worm. 2) If you are going to Canada, you just need to make sure you have current records (Rabies) to show them as you go through the border crossing. The big thing here is that you also have to have paperwork for them to come back to the US that is different. You have to have CDC forms for every dog you have. Cats are good with just their current proof of Rabies. You can get these all online. So for our 3 hours driving across Canada, I have a stack of paperwork for all of them. You also want to look up things about bringing in meat, wood, fruits/veggies etc.
Moving on, we made it through to the customs window. Paul is just learning how to read signs, so he kept moving when we were suppose to stop (so we got yelled at) and then he went to the wrong lane (he didn’t read the sign). If they were going to search us, we all had their attention. The guy came around and had me open the door to the RV where he was met with growls and barks by Mooshu. He did not come in and instead asked me to open the bathroom door. I am guessing because we were in the wrong lane, it would have been a real pain in the ass to have us unload a less than friendly dog. Moosh does not take well to men approaching me. So.. we were one our way fairly easy!
This is how we all felt waiting for the big search.
Once we crossed the border, which ended up being a breeze, we had made it to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. There wasn’t a very easy way to see them besides us driving by them. So my brother and I jumped out of the RV and ran down to the overlook. We got some pics and then caught up with the RV. I mean, I jumped over a wall. I asked my husband if he thought I looked cool when I did it, and by the 3rd time of me asking, he finally agreed. I was so busy hopping walls, I didn’t realize I had out walked my brother so we had to turn around to go get him. Anyway, if you have a chance to go to Niagara Falls, I would do it. Try and go down to the overlook. While we were driving and looking out the window at the falls, I kept asking them if they thought they could live if I pushed them over. I don’t think either one would live. One is always on his phone and the other is always on his phone. I have the element of surprised. Just thoughts though. Just thoughts.
🎥 The movie that we watched was filmed a lot, if not all, in Niagara. It was an ok mystery called The Disappearance at Clifton Hill. This movie wasn’t anything special. I actually think I have seen it before? It drags, it uses moody lighting, I give it 3 stars. It makes it more palatable if you tell the people you are watching it with that it is a true story. I don’t think it is, but it kept my brother interested. My husband has perfected the art of sleeping sitting up, so he took the opportunity to snooze. I did think it is pretty amazing that my brother would talk to my husband about the movie and Paul (my husband) would respond like he had been awake the whole time. This is a man thing.
👗Lottie Wore What?? Lottie is wearing a little bear sweater from Gelato Pique. I didn’t ever order much from them because they are way too expensive. I must have purchased this early on in Lottie’s puppyhood before I found more affordable options. Regardless, she has never worn it before, and she can make anything look good. Lanna is wearing a cute pink plaid sweater from Spark Paws. We have had this one for a couple of years, but they still have so many cute sweaters I kind of wish I didn’t link it because now I have seen them. Finally I really like this company called BITE ME. They make these smaller tennis balls that Lottie can play with, also these cute small bear squeaky toy. I found this brand on the SunnyPawshop site but then found them on their own site. I think they are based in Korea. So if you don’t care how long it takes to get to you, I will link them HERE.
