🌲⛳️ Stops #16 Bolivia, NC and #17 Hilton Head, SC
If you are reading this we are on our way to our next stop. We only have 3 more stops and the 4th will be home. I have to be honest, this trip was way more intense than the last trip. We have covered a lot of ground and we have packed a lot into a small window of time.
After the ponies in Virginia, we were super late to leave. Like, I think we left around Noon with an over 6 hour drive to our next stop. It is called In the Pines Rv & Cabin Village. We got here around 8 or 9 pm, so we didn’t do anything. I ate a Subway (turkey, black olives, white cheddar, salt/pepper, and oil/vinegar) so good. I showered, fed the dogs, and we all crashed. We left super early the next morning because we had to be in Hilton Head early so Paul could catch a flight to Milwaukee. He had to attend a funeral, we had to extend Hilton Head by one night, and I was there with the dogs for two nights. Aloneeeeee.. What ever did I do?
We stayed at Hilton Head National RV Resort. This place isn’t about fitting in with anyone at all. I mean, we literally have met zero people who are traveling with 5 pets. Most people spend their time diverting their eyes from having to talk to anyone, it wasn’t just me I swear. Also, everyone here has rigs that are 500k or more (leaning towards the more) and then there was us. It was hard to find us because everyone else had RV coaches that extended the entire drive. So you literally could not see our little RV with all of us in a line. I stayed here one night last year and did not get to experience much of this resort, so this time I rented a golf cart. This place DOES have a huge space in the middle with a dog park. It was a bit far away from us, but it has a lot of green space for dogs around our RV too. We just have to watch for snakes and alligators, no biggie.
First, this RV park is split where you can request an adults only side, which we did. Our side is a bit smaller, has a club house (with free snacks), a bartender (from 12 pm to 6 pm) and pool/hot tub. Their laundry is amazing and so are their shower facilities. I really thought to myself how awesome I was going to report my first night was to everyone. I had my first shower NOT in the RV since I had been at home and it was amazing. I got back to the RV, settled in with a movie and the girls, and went to sleep. Around 5 am Lottie woke me up to use the restroom. I stepped out of the bad on the rug and my sock got soaked. I had to sort of process this at first. As I looked around at all of the rugs, all the way to the front of the RV, everything was soaking wet. WTF is actually happening right now? I opened the bathroom and the shower pan was filled with water. I am assuming that it overflowed all over the place. I had to process what was going on. I took a couple scoops of water from the shower and dumped them in the toilet, but like? Would that help? I checked all of the settings and it was saying the grey tank was full. How TF is that possible when I didn’t even shower in the RV? SO I got outside, very quiet like so I don’t wake the people next door, I check the grey tank, I touch the lever, and it explodes all over me. Like a tick. I slammed the lever shut, pulled out the hose thing, and it would not reach the sewage drain. I think they gave us a shorter hose thing this time because this was not a problem last year. Because the water was so loud, I attached the hose, and let her rip in the bushes. Now, before you bash me, let me tell you what happened. I had filled the water tank at this stop, so it was full. I remember, while in bed, I heard the sputtering of the kitchen faucet and reached over to turn it off. I think at that time though, it was done emptying all of the water. Somehow the level on the faucet turned on, and ran, filled up the grey tank and then overflowed when it ran out of space. Paul has said that he has heard it turn on a couple times, and thought Newt was doing it. I thought I did it by pushing the TV over and it hitting the lever. Anyway. Now I had a ton of cleaning up to do, and a ton of laundry for my second day in Hilton Head. Luckily all of this water was clean water. I had not showered and I had just filled up the fresh water tank. So I did not feel bad dumping it in the bushes, but like.. I really did not want anyone seeing me doing that. OH and someone fed their Pomeranian one too many Goldfish crackers and she barfed all over Paul’s bedding.
The next day alone was spent washing every rug, every towel, and a ton of barf blankets. This place DID have a pet washer and dryer, but I felt very seen when I was dragging these trash bags of wet items to wash in the laundry room and especially when I folded them all and stacked them on top of a pet stroller with two dogs. This day was spent running around, back and forth to the clubhouse, in the golf cart. I actually ran out of laundry detergent and had to order DoorDash.
So let’s try this again. I had a lovely shower in their shower, I slept with some warm blankets, ordered Chick-Fil-A, took all the dogs on a ride in the golf cart, answered all of the questions by people about how many dogs I had, and then watched a movie.
🎥The movie I watched was not a Hilton Head movie. I mean, I have been here before and I am sure I watched a movie about this place. This time I watched the new Netflix movie Animals with my friend Jennifer. We do this a lot where we watch movies together and then bash them over chat. We stop and start at the same time. If we need to pause, we start back up at the same timestamp. ANYWAYYYY this movie is not good. It is a massive vehicle for you to see how well duolingo paid off for Ben’s Spanish, but the whole thing was a bit of a let down. I won’t ruin it since it is sort of new.
👗 Lottie Wore What? Lottie wore some cute outfits. One of them is this red vest with white trim. It is giving holiday vibes, but I really like it because it has harness loops on the back. That makes it super easy to clip her up to go outside. Another outfit is her bunny outfit. It is so cute. It was still super warm in Hilton Head while everyone else in Austin was enjoying their cold front. Blegh
